The eagerly anticipated launch of the new 2G Flicx Pitch range took place on Saturday at Yorkshire CCC, Headingley as part of the series of Cricket Club Expo events.
Feedback from clubs at the event was hugely positive with cricketers clearly impressed with the new surface which has many benefits including improved ball bounce, more surface traction and better seam and spin performance versus its predecessor. In addition the 2G range has two new designs, the 2G Flicx Skills pitch and the 2G Eagle-eyed pitch which are great coaching aids for young players, with bright colours and markings helping bowlers deliver a more consistent line and length whilst also supporting batting decision making and adding a big element of fun.
Applications of the 2G Pitch
Managing Director Richard Beghin outlined some of the applications of the new 2G Flicx Pitch, which is now manufactured in the UK and in stock at Flicx UK for immediate delivery ahead of the new season. “The softer nature of the 2G product means that we believe it is an excellent solution for the indoor game. The pitch rolls out flat the bounce is very consistent which allows clubs to have a high standard of winter training. In addition it’s a great match surface for both juniors and seniors, and enables any flat surface or sports field to be transformed into a cricketing venue”
Other applications of the surface are as an instant upgrade option to transform an existing worn synthetic, as a means to increase capacity of junior sessions. Other advances with 2G product mean that all pitches are made to order, with the customer’s choice of colour whilst corporate sponsors logo’s can also be added to bespoke the pitches even further.
Enquiries for the new pitches are flooding in with Michael Brookes at Harpenden CC one of the first clubs to take delivery of a 2G. He commented “Flicx UK are a very professional organisation to deal with, very flexible and always being willing to accommodate our specific needs. The Flicx 2G pitches themselves area great product that are a useful practice tool for both batters and bowlers in a range of different environments. They are also very flexible too and we plan to use them as a match surface for some of our younger age groups saving on the time and cost of pitch preparation”
